Since childhood Marien has been fascinated by ships. In 2004 he completed studies as a shipbuilding engineer and then as a structural / building engineer. He became a follower of Christ in 2015 after reading Ephesians 2: 8-9. A year later he read an article in a Christian magazine about port missions and started visiting ships in 2017 as a volunteer.
