To A Special Seafarer…

Usually the Cobh 'Seafarers' Centre' is only open between April and October for the cruise ships. Cargo ships don't berth at Cobh Cruise Berth. However, I visited the Centre this week to leave some hats and teddies there. I was amazed to find a package addressed to me which had been posted from Essex in England. It was packed full of beautiful Christmas cards for seafarers. A Primary School teacher got her class to make them. Lynne had grown up in Portrush and often heard Walter Burrell speaking at Portrush Presbyterian Church. Amazing!

We had a ship in port this week which has had a 51 day voyage from China! Due to the Suez Canal being dangerous for ships, they came via the Cape of Good Hope! They left on 24th November and arrived on 14th January meaning they spent Christmas and New Year far from home. So, they were thrilled when I showed up with Christmas presents, cards, teddies, scriptures, calendars, snacks and sim cards!

A massive thanks to the Primary School children for the amazing Christmas cards. They really melted the hearts of the crew! Many thanks for the Christmas gifts provided by SCFS generous supporters.
