Jonathan Bayliff, our port chaplain in Portland, has been liaising with the Portland Port Group to enhance the facilities of the Seafarers Lounge. This has entailed adding the facility of a toilet to the lounge and also having Wi-Fi installed, two basic necessities which are taken for granted!

SCFS appreciates the partnership of Port Authorities in seeing that the seafarers needs are being met, both through ship visitations and in providing basic necessities for the crew as they take a little time ashore. Time ashore is precious to seafarers and the seafarers' lounges offer them a place to relax, to connect with their loved ones at home and the opportunity to chat and be encouraged by chaplains.
