Family Devotion Onboard!

It is a real joy and privilege to host family devotions, despite the vast oceans separating family members. Jae recalls a couple of special occasions where he recently has been able to share with and encourage a husband, docked in Ireland and his wife at home in the Philippines...

"Sometimes I meet some seafarers who miss their family and family time as they are far away from home.

Recently, while I was singing Christian songs, one of the Filipino crew on a container ship phoned his wife and told her about me. Then she joined me, singing with me together through video call. She said she is a praise & worship leader in her church. She has a wonderful voice. Out of the blue Colin in Cork phoned me and happened to join us for around 30 minutes. Colin also had a chance to share God's Word to encourage her and the crew and prayed for them as well. A wonderful worship service!"

"This week again a container ship, whose crew member's wife had joined a service of worship, came back to Dublin. As the couple, Mariano and Marlyn were enjoying the time, it became a kind of family devotion on board even though the wife is in the Philippines.

Later, Colin was invited and Colin invited Hermie, who is a SCFS trustee and ship visitor in Portsmouth. We had an extended family devotional time. Colin and Hermie were a great encouragement to them, as the couple loved their encouraging words and prayers.

Please pray more crew members will invite their family members to such a family devotional time on board."
