Christmas Day in Belfast Port

Pauline and I had the joy of visiting two ships in Belfast on Christmas Day.

The photos relate to the container ship called Containerships Nord.

When we arrived at the terminal, there was no gangway down and I had to sound the car horn to attract someone’s attention. When the 2nd Officer came and I said, we had Christmas Presents he asked for help. Soon several Filipino crew, arrived and started to put the gangway down. What was interesting was that the Filipino on the gangway had a harness on him which was attached to a retractable line, and he was the only one allowed on the gangway.

When the gangway was down, some of the Filipino’s and the second officer on the deck came down to welcome us and wish us a Merry Christmas. As they went to so much trouble Pauline and I boarded the vessel and enjoyed a cuppa and piece of cake.

The crew were so happy to get the presents. As we left two females appeared and it was good that I had a few female presents in the car which a member took on board for them.

Thirty “Harbour Hope” bags were given out to Ukrainian, Filipino, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey crew members.
