A Warm Welcome on Board in Belfast

This morning I had the privilege of seeing another new door open for SCFS here in Belfast, as I was able to visit the crew on board a cruise ship.

This time, instead of meeting in the crew mess room, I was given a space in the lounge area of one of the ship’s restaurants. The visit was announced, and a notice was placed on the door, which helped crew members know they were welcome to come along.

There are 118 crew from 37 different nations, and it was a joy to meet people from such a variety of backgrounds. One Filipina shared that she has been with the ship for two years, and this was the first pastoral visit she had ever experienced.

Many crew members came over to chat and to receive Scripture. The following were taken:
  • 6 NIV Bibles
  • 2 KJV Bibles
  • 2 Tagalog Bibles
  • 2 Portuguese Bibles
  • 1 Spanish Bible
  • 1 Hindi Bible
  • 1 Serbian Bible
  • 4 English/Tagalog New Testaments
  • 6 Gideon New Testaments
  • Magnets and pens (all taken)

A number of people were disappointed that I had no KJV or English Bibles left.

There were a number of interesting conversations. One person wanted to talk through the Days of Creation, and another gentleman shared his view that the “first day” only truly began on day four, when the sun and moon were set on their course. Moments like these are a reminder of how open people can be to discussing spiritual things when given the opportunity.

Once again, our God has been faithful in opening up the way for SCFS in Belfast to send out the Word of God from these from these lands to the nations of the world for His Glory Alone.

Thank you for your continued prayers.
